William A. Peterson, of Pembroke, age 59, finally grew tired of fiercely battling cancer on April 2nd. He passed while surrounded by his loving family. William, or Billy as he was called by most, was blessed with the worlds greatest friends that stood by him until the very end. BP entered this world in Dorchester, MA on May 25, 1952. Born to loving parents, he, along with his always content, mountain man twin brother Gene, were raised and cherished by Anne and Jim Vickers. He’s survived by his three children; Axel, Sarah, Nolan, and his grandchildren Seany, Wylie, and Evan whom he adored. Billy also has countless relatives that reside all over the world and are close enough to stay in touch. He is extremely proud of his Harley, and his Icelandic heritage. He loved life, and enjoyed each day to the fullest. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 5th from 4-8:00PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston, with a service set to begin at 7:30PM to celebrate his life and to say goodbye. A separate gathering will be held at his home in Pembroke.

Adelaide “Mary” Ruprecht of Kingston, passed away at Jordan Hospital on Monday, April 9, 2012, at the age of 95. Adelaide was a long-time resident of Kingston before becoming a resident of Wingate – Inn at Silver Lake. She was the wife of the late Dr. Albert P. Ruprecht and was predeceased by her daughter Barbara A. Glass. She was the cherished grandmother of Julie Gallagher of Belmont, NC, Bonnie King of East Bridgewater, Christine Feeney of Norton and Laurie Glass of Pembroke. Loving great-grandmother of Samantha, Alley and Emily Gallagher, Brian and Jessica Feeney, Benjamin King and Ashley Glass-DeSilva. Loving great-aunt to Cindy Taylor, Gail Rivers, Sue Cunningham, Sharon and Linda Chasse, and Don Adams. Adelaide worked at Ocean Spray in her early years and enjoyed playing Bingo and going to Foxwoods into her 80’s.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, Kingston, Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning at Shepherd’s Funeral Home, 216 Main Street (Rt. 106), Kingston.

Edward Cotter Cole, “Bud”, of Kingston, born in Dorchester and a long-time resident of Weymouth, passed away April 12, 2012, at the age of 91.

Edward lived a long and full life with his wife of 68 years, Catherine “Kay” (Welch) Cole. He is also survived by his daughter, Mary Ellen Mazzola and son-in-law Steven Mazzola, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Alice, and siblings Kathleen, Elinor, Dennis, Edna, Alice and John.

Edward served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Cowie, and worked on the East Coast Survey following the war. He was the evening bartender at the University Club, Boston, for many years, where he met colorful political and sports personalities. In retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad. After living over 50 years in a wonderful neighborhood in Weymouth Landing, Bud and Kay moved to Kingston to share their home with their daughter and son-in-law.

Calling hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Tuesday, April 17 from 4:00-8:00 PM.

Funeral services at the Shepherd Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 18 at 8:00 AM, followed by his funeral Mass at Saint Joseph’s Church, 272 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, at 9:00 AM.

Interment will follow at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Kingston.

Guidaboni, Celia A (Scrocco) 95 of Plymouth died at the Life Care Center of Plymouth April 21. Wife of the late Mando J. Guidaboni she leaves her children Robert J. Guidaboni and his wife MaryEllen of Plymouth and Betty Dallman and her husband Lawrence of Kingston, her grandchildren Jay and John Guidaboni of Plymouth and Michelle Sachetti of Danbury, CT. She also leaves her sisters Theresa Keating of Brockton, Yolanda Gray of Buzzards Bay, Olga DiPalma of W. Warwick, RI and several nieces and nephews.
Celia was born in Brockton the daughter of Carmen and Betty Scrocco and graduated from Brockton High School in the class of 1934. She came to Plymouth after her marriage and raised her family and worked at many different stores in Plymouth (Goodings Jewelry, Buttners Store, and Superior Pet.) Celia was a member of the Women’s Guild at St. Mary’s Parish and loved to cook and spend time with her family.
A visiting Hour will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 373 Court St. (Rte 3A) N. Plymouth on Wednesday April 25, form 8:30 to 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Parish at 10:00 AM Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Plymouth.

Paul E. Smith, age 70, of Kingston, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth.

Paul was born and raised in Randolph and attended Randolph Public Schools. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle to his family. Paul served in the US Army, post Korean Conflict. He was a long time business owner and operator of Pilgrim Auto Body in Kingston and a member of the Old Colony Sportsmen Club in Pembroke. Paul enjoyed antique cars, fishing, painting, travelling to his condominium in Florida and loved the Boston Red Sox.

He was the beloved husband of 49 years to Sandy (Whitman) Smith; devoted father of Robin Darsch of Plymouth & her former husband Peter Darsch of Kingston, Kelly Smith of Kingston, Paul Smith, Jr. of Mcdonough, GA; loving grandfather of Nickolaus Darsch, Caleb Darsch, Rebekah Darsch and Jamie Smith; dear brother of Donna Davin of FL, Raymond Smith of Randolph and the late Arthur “Buddy” Smith and Jean Queenan and dear son of the late Arthur & Ruth (Chase) Smith. He was the long time friend of “Marksie”. Paul, also known as “THE WEEZE” is also survived by many other loving family and friends.

Everett E. Neumyer of Kingston, a dedicated family man, passed away May 2, 2012. He was 82 years old. He was the devoted husband of 59 years to Ida (Sciortino) Neumyer. He was the loving father of his son Everett Neumyer Jr. married to Theresa and his daughter Angela Drew and significant other Stan. Proud grandfather of Tammy, John, Heather, and Steven and three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Dylan and Matthew. Everett was born in West Virginia he moved to Boston when he was sixteen. He was an industrial sewing machine mechanic for 40 years and loved to work around the house and enjoyed the company of his family.

Ruth Preble Bailey, of Kingston, passed away on May 17, 2012 at the age of 80 surrounded by her family. Born in New Rochelle, NY, she is the daughter of Winsor D. and Ruth Preble White. Known as “Preble” to her family and friends, she is a graduate of Mamaroneck High School class of 1949, and went on to graduate from Colby Sawyer class of 1951.
Preble enjoyed life and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her friends. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, the Silver Bells Fair, baking, gardening, and time at “the Camp” on Savery’s Pond. She was a member of the 1st Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Kingston Women’s Alliance and Sewing Group.
Beloved wife of 56 years to Justus A. Bailey of Kingston. Loving mother of Todd A. and Lynne A. Bailey of Kingston, and Scott R. and Elizabeth A. Bailey of Houston, TX. Brother of Winsor D. White II of the Philippines and Florida. Cherished grandmother of Derek G. Bailey, Adam R. Bailey, Dennis A. Bailey, and David W. Bailey.

Sr. Mary Pires C.D.P., of Kingston, Sister of Divine Providence for 61 years, died May 22, 2012. She was born August 4, 1926, daughter of Manuel and Mary (Dores) Pires. She is survived by her siblings Minnie Tavares, Sylvia Philip, Elaine Sturtevant, Manuel Pires, and the late Alda Valenziano, and Evelyn Whitcomb. She also leaves her beloved Nieces and Nephews.
Sr. Mary served for two years as a teacher in Pittsburgh before returning to teach at Sacred Heart High School in Kingston. Sr. Mary has the distinct honor of being the only member of the Sisters of the Divine Providence who is a native of Kingston. An expert cook and baker, she has used her culinary skills to bring joy to her Sisters in Community and to her friends and family as well. After a number of years in schools, the Community asked her to return to study, and Sister Mary became a registered dietician, spending eight years serving at the VA Hospital in Providence, RI. Sr. Mary used her gift with the elderly by serving in a Grandparent Adoption Program, various outreach ministries to the elderly, and head of the Love Program at St. Joseph’s for several years, as well as a faithful friend to the residents of Wingate at Silver Lake in Kingston.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 28th, at the Providence House, 363 Bishop’s Highway, Kingston from 2-5 and 6-7:30PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 29th at 3:30 PM at Sacred Heart High School Chapel, 399 Bishop’s Highway, Kingston. Interment will be in Our Lady of Divine Providence cemetery, Kingston. Donations may be made in Sr. Mary’s memory to the Lourdes Center, 363 Bishop’s Highway, Kingston, MA 02364.

He belonged to several outdoor clubs including AMC, Wildlife Federation, GOAL, Snowmobile Clubs and the Old Colony Sportsman Club. He was a former Boy Scout and avid baseball player. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed photography, fishing, sightseeing and traveling.
He was the son of Beverly a (Chase) Champignie and Edward R Champignie of Kingston. Brother to Janell M Croce and her husband Randy Croce of Kingston and Kevin L Champignie of Bridgewater. Father to Cameron and Kyle Champignie of Halifax, loving companion of Patricia “Queenie” Coveney, Uncle to Mari E Croce, Maeja M Croce of Kingston and Kaelani Champignie of Bridgewater. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She moved to Marshfield in 1941 and then to Carver in 1984. Mildred worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk.

Albert Henry McClure, age 92, died suddenly on June 9, 2012 at Jordan Hospital, Plymouth, MA.
Al was born on March 23, 1920 to Arthur and Rose (Duesel) McClure in Worcester, MA. He was the devoted husband of the late Irene M. (Styffe) McClure. He leaves his daughters, Carol Ryan and her husband David, and grandsons Jon and Joey of Boxford, and Joanne Williams, her husband Rick and grandsons Gregory and Derek of Duxbury, as well as his cousins Earl Duesel, Judith Moreau Giggey and Jane Moreau Bates.
He was a graduate of South High School, Worcester Academy, and attended two years at Mass State before joining the Air Force in WW II. He was a flight navigational instructor on B-17s and B-29s on airbases in Wyoming, Colorado, and Texas and forever after he could step outside on a starry night and describe the sky according to the constellations or detect the engine of a B-17 flying over. After the war, he was in sales for National Cash Register and Formsprag Company, and became a manufacturing representative for his own company in Worcester specializing in mechanical clutches.
He was an avid golfer as well as a Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots fan. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, birdwatching, and being with his family. He was a longtime resident of both Paxton, MA and West Harwich, MA where he enjoyed many memorable summers. He was a former member of Oak Hill Golf Course, Wychmere Harbor Club, Cranberry Valley and Bonita Springs Golf Course. In later years, Al lived in Naples, Florida and Duxbury, MA.
He had a long and wonderful life and will be missed by his many friends and family.

Abbondanzio, Leona G. (Hogan) of Kingston formerly of Braintree and Quincy, passed away June 11, 2012 with her family by her side.

Beloved wife of the late Frank Abbondanzio. Loving mother of Sheila Watson of Holbrook, Kathleen DiBona of Weymouth, Frank Abbondanzio of Montague, MA, Diane DelVecchio of Kingston and Robert Abbondanzio of Putney, VT. Devoted sister of Theresa Miller of PA and the late Isabel O’Reilly, Rosalie Crooks, Margaret O’Connell, Grace Zelinsky, Rev. Edmund Hogan, S.J., Elinor, William, Rhea, Leo, Victor and Anna Hogan. Cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Leona was born and raised in Avon and lived in Quincy before settling in Braintree where she raised her family. She worked as a Bookkeeper for Howard Johnson’s for 25 years before retiring in 1985. Leona enjoyed playing piano, knitting and doing crosswords. She was a very social woman who enjoyed getting together with friends. Most of all, Leona’s family was the cornerstone of her life. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her. Leona’s family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the Care given to Leona at Wingate at Silver Lake over the past few years and especially in the final days of her life, they would also like to acknowledge Cranberry Hospice for their exceptional and devoted care and kindness.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

Shepherd of Pembroke, and Kristin Klaus and her husband Joseph of Kingston. Devoted and loving papa of Michael J. Klaus, Sarah E. Weston, Leah Klaus, Joseph J. Shepherd, and David P. Shepherd, Jr. Norman is the son of Constance C. Shepherd of Pembroke, and the late Melvin Shepherd. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Norman was a 1957 graduate of Silver Lake High School. He served 6 years in the United States Navy. After leaving the military, he was employed as a manager in the body shop for Standish Chevrolet for fifteen years. He then opened his own shop, Shepherd’s Auto Body in 1980 in Pembroke. He was known for his expertise with automobiles, and he was the proud owner of a 1939 Ford and a 1953 Ford truck, which he restored himself. More recently, he enjoyed a new hobby of woodcarving.
Visiting hours on Monday July 9 at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St., Rt. 106, Kingston, from 3:00-7:00PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 7:00PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Pembroke Watershed Association, P.O. Box 368, Pembroke, MA 02359.

Russell A. “Buzz” Doyle, of Duxbury, passed away July 5, 2012 at the Jordan Hospital after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was 76 years old. Russ moved to Duxbury in 1952 and was a graduate of of the class of 1954. He was the son of the late Russel L. and Doris K. Doyle. Brother of the late Diane K. Snider and Denise R. Merry and survived by Darlene S. Hiller all of Spring Hill FL. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Penelope D. “Penny” (Whitney) Doyle. Father of Steven L. Doyle and his wife Jennifer of Duxbury and the late Garry A. Doyle. Grandfather of Leah Santos Doyle, Daniel Doyle, and Matthew Doyle, and great grandfather of Gabrielle Santos. Russ is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved bluegrass music, and camping. After graduation from Duxbury High Russ enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served 4 years during the Korean conflict. “Bampy” loved his family especially his three grandchildren and great grandaughter.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 10th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 11th at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at the Hillcrest cemetery in Plympton. Joanne Burton died at the age of 53 at South Shore Hospital Friday June 29th. Joanne was born on September 23rd 1959 in Plymouth Massachusetts. She was a resident of Kingston, and Worked for First Student as a bus driver in Pembroke. She is survived by her daughter Casey Burton of Middleboro and son James Burton of Kingston. Also by her Brothers Stephen Colontonio of Plymouth and Richard Colontonio of Plymouth. was preceded in death by her Mother Sunny Colontonio of Plymouth and Farther Joseph Colontonio of Plymouth.
Memorial visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 13th at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. All are welcome to attend.
